Are you really an entrepreneur?
You may be one without even knowing it.
I have personally mentored hundreds of entrepreneurs. It’s obvious to me when I see one.
And if you’re reading this, you may be one too.
Here are a few of the things I’ve learned and how you can tell if you are an entrepreneur.
And for those of you that think you are but are unsure- this will serve as a great reminder.
1. You Love the Hustle
Being an entrepreneur can be both infinitely rewarding and extremely challenging.
The best part about entrepreneurship in my mind is the freedom that comes with it. But for many people that can also be the biggest challenge.
As an entrepreneur, you are OK with that! In fact, you love the fact that you get what you put into it, and have no boss.
2. You Always Have Ideas
The ideas never stop coming in. You always have another idea and may have notebooks or documents full of them. Ideas come to you at the oddest times. Your partner or significant other is the one that gets to hear all about them.

3. You Always Have a Solution to Every Problem
As an entrepreneur, you are a natural problem solver. You find yourself solving problems that others wouldn’t even realize are problems yet. In that way, you can see things before they happen.
Like a chess player you are also thinking many moves ahead. Successful entrepreneurs are good strategic thinkers and can come up with a lot of “what ifs”. Just like a chess player.
4. You See Opportunity Everywhere
Entrepreneurs are natural born opportunists. You constantly find yourself seeing opportunities where others don’t. You even critique other businesses and imagine how you would improve them.
As an entrepreneur, you see partnership and marketing opportunities all over the place. You find yourself messaging other bright people and businesses about potential collaborations.
5. You Think Outside the Box
Don’t ever be afraid to think differently.
There’s a fine line between genius and insanity, and you dance around that line. Sometimes you are completely genius in your out of the box solutions. Other times people will think you are insane. As an entrepreneur, you can’t wait for the day that you can prove them wrong.
Some of the most innovative people from history were called crazy.
Albert Einstein. Steve Jobs. Christopher Columbus. Leonardo da Vinci. Benjamin Franklin. Mark Zuckerberg.
6. Cliches Piss You Off
As a true entrepreneur, you challenge the use of constraining language and cliches. Even commonly accepted phrases such as: “don’t put all your eggs in one basket,” annoy you.
Entrepreneurs also don’t often like labels. Even the use of the word “entrepreneur” may not sit right with you. A lot of entrepreneurs feel that they are great at many things.
7. You Do Things Your Own Way
You don’t get too excited when someone tells you what to do, and you don’t like to be told how to do things.
You prefer to do things your own way. In fact, it frustrates you greatly when you have to work someone else’s way. On the flip side, when you are given freedom or working on your own project, you shine.
Congratulations!
