How did you get to the position you’re in today?
At the age of 17, I was the victim of a brutal gay-bashing in my public high school. It attracted national and international attention as I appeared on Larry King live on CNN and the Sally Jessy Raphael Show. I’ve shared this experience on many radio shows, including Rick Dayton from KDKA and WCCO (AM) News Talk Radio with Cory Hepola.
I’ve discussed the Catholic Church’s comments on homosexuality and talked about how to reconcile one’s sexuality with religion. I have been a PR director and am now the Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association president.
What are your thoughts on the future of your religion and the LGBTQ+ Community?
There is still a lot of room for love and acceptance. However, Progression is inevitable. Let’s look back at how others were involved in the past. History has a way of repeating itself.
What advice would you give to entrepreneurs starting out?
The kindest people I’ve known are those who have known pain, have known struggles, have known loss, and have gotten themselves away from the depths.
Have you ever faced any challenges with being a voice of change?
Absolutely. If you have experienced opposition from others in your own life, you haven’t done anything great in yours.
How do you define success?
Define success on your terms, achieve it by your own rules, and build a life you’re proud to live. Characterize accomplishment according to your preferences, accomplish it by your standards, and assemble an everyday routine you’re glad to experience.
