Influencer turned entrepreneur, Josh Richards is onto yet another interesting endeavor. Richards will serve as a special adviser to the National Hockey League as a “voice of the fans.”
The NHL announced yesterday that Richards will hold this new advisory role where his main focus will be growing the leagues youth audience. In a statement made by the NHL they described his role, “Richards will make appearances at NHL marquee events, and share creative ideas regarding future NHL events and initiatives as part of the League’s fan development efforts for the next generation.”
Richards emphasized his excitement for this new chapter, “I want to thank the National Hockey League for giving me an opportunity to share my love of hockey with a whole new generation of fans. I have always wanted to use my platform to educate and inspire, and I look forward to sharing my passion for hockey with millions.”
With over 40 million followers, Richards has immense power to bring attention to the sport of hockey through his reach and overall influence. Josh’s young following is just the demographic the league is aiming to target as they welcome the next generation of hockey to the sport. The NHL continues to expand with the Seattle Kraken about to begin their inaugural season, bringing the number of teams to 31.
I think this will be an extremely authentic partnership especially given that Josh’s love for hockey dates back to his earliest memories as a child growing up in Canada.
